The way we view TV has dramatically changed over the past decade. A decade ago, everyone had a traditional cable or satellite plan that came with paid subscriptions to movie services and upgrades for premium sports packages. These days cutting the cord and switching to streaming services or a combination of cable and streaming seems to be the norm.

The way we consume video has changed and a new study from Roku found that 60 million U.S.  households are expected to access content on TVs exclusively via streaming in the next five years. Roku’s study says that U.S. market data suggests that so far in 2019, 2 million homes in the U.S. have cut the cord and left traditional cable or satellite providers. That is in addition to the 3.5 million people that Roku says gave up traditional TV in 2018.

When it comes to streaming services and devices, there is no limit to the providers and platforms. You can stream vintage series, current television, sports, movies, and more. No longer are you dependent on a cable cord or satellite dish to deliver your favorite content.
